I'm sure volunteers and med students would be welcomed as well.

This is probably the worst place to get psychiatric treatment.

My experience with south county mental health center over the years I been coming out here sense 1984 until of June 26th of 2017 my appointment was at 8:30am today of time frame among the staffing they are not to friendly or they don't like me or they have a attitude or something like they don't want help me out or something among the doctors I have seen out here couple are nice in some are not but have to give a complement there one s wait on me like Dr Cousen and Marie rose jasmine and the other lady I forgot her name but all at least you are great it's just some of your staff that you got working with you some I don't trust in I don't like

If you read this, thank you lol I know I wrote a lot, I just had to describe in great detail how atrocious this place is.

This place is fantastic. Privately funded and by donations. Give the staff a smile and ya always get one back. It's true if you're looking for an upscale detox/mental health clinic, this is not it. However, if you are low or no income and it comes down to needing an emergency place that takes Medicaid, and have small payments based on income, (my visits cost me $13.00), they have their own pharmacy, do not prescribe narcotics, and again, meds are income based. My $1600 per month pills, cost me $40 a month. When my prescription changed and I was able to stay voluntary to make sure I adjusted to them OK. I wasn't rushed and saw my Doc everyday. If you can, this place is well worth a donation of any kind.

I wish I could give this 0 stars they don't even deserve 1. This is a mediocre functioning center where people are just shuffling around and transferring you back and forth just so they can keep getting funding from the government. This is a mental health clinic and there are no pharmacists after hours. The lady on the phone basically said I'd need to try to kill myself in order to be able to talk to a doctor. This is disgusting, when patients lapse on their medication, especially an anti depressant , the body acts the opposite in hopes that it will get what it needs. This is the only pharmacy that has caused me to lapse on my medication - twice. They need to be shut down. The doctors don't care, the therapist - the therapist I was seeing would constantly look at the clock and save terrible things. Again, they're doing what they have to do to get their funding. If only the front desk woman Eva was a doctor. The pharmacy is even I'm worse. They told me I could have my prescription filled elsewhere and gave me an Rx number and they also almost didn't refund me the money from when I originally filled it. But they said I could fill it somewhere else (did I mention this pharmacy closes at 5 m-f, you know when normal people get off of work) so I waited until the weekend to take it to a normal pharmacy that has weekend hours - you know because people might need their meds every single day, well every single pharmacy I called said that South County would have to call them to make the transfer. I called the mobile crisis which is like the emergency and the woman was nice at first then was just totally mean with no possible solutions, how is she even capable of working their. Mental health deals with your BRAIN! You cannot play around with people's mental health. The last time I relapsed I ended up having to go inpatient because I was baker acted after lapsing for 3 days. Oh and I was impatient there so I got a nice little bill for 3,000 all because they couldn't be consistent with getting my medication to me. Luckily the medicine I take, I have it in 2 different doses so I can just double up, but now that's going to leave me short on it (I take 450 mg - they gave me my 150mg but it's the 300mg I was missing, so instead of taking 1 of each I just took 3 150mg). This was my only choice as I didn't want to experience the deeply dark and dangerous feelings of being suicidal. I'm supposed to be able to rely on my health care provider because it's my health and it not a thing to take lightly. Keep everyone you know away from here if you really love them. This has deeply saddened me and now I'll be look for a way to get them shut down or at least have them checked out by the government in which they receive their funding.

Wish I could put 0 stars, they trick you into signing paperwork that you don’t fully understand, and papers fully admitting yourself. My brother got bakeracted on Thursday and wasn’t able to leave for another 5 days. Also, his social worker Courtney wouldn’t help us discharge him. Other than that, the people who do not directly treat the patients were really nice.

If I could give them 50 Stars. Melissa at the front desk helped me as if a cousin was standing in front of her. If you're falling apart, they'll teach you how to put yourself back together. If you can't afford services they have a sliding scale. There's no need to suffer alone. Let them help you!!!!! I spoke with Dan, after dumping all of that on him, I slept for the first time in 2 months. Thank you guys, all of you.
