In search of the beat bagels in Delray Beach and Boca Raton, to approximate the superior New York-style bagels in my suburb of Philadelphia, I bought bagels from nine bagel bakeries and delis in these areas. To do the comparison, I ate samples side-by-side and even measured the bagels' weights. Brighton Beach Bagel & Bakery makes the best. These bagels are very chew, with just a tiny hint of sweetness. The flagels (flattened bagels) are stupendous, with crispy crust and tough, chewy interior. The poppy seed flagel is loaded with poppy, top and bottom. All my future bagel purchases with bee from this bakery. It also supplies bagels to other stores. My wife also found the lemon-poppy muffin to be scrumptious. The house blend coffee is also really good, with that super freshly-ground coffee flavour, and I am a coffee-holic, who loves good coffee.

I'm really underwhelmed by the bagels here. The portion sizes are good. The meals are a bit expensive though. The bagels themselves are only slightly above average, I believe. There are better bagel spots in the area.

Brooklyn bagel right up the road is much better. Brighton was out of everything bagels. The ones we did very were tough and cold.
This place is ABSOLUTELY like a NY bagel joint. Bagels are the right consistency, the hash browns are to die for. I had a ham and cheese omlet that was delicious. Portions are generous, table service is quick and friendly. This place is a gem! If you are from the NY/NJ area, do yourself a favor and stop in for breakfast/brunch. You will not regret it.
